Climate in Guilin
Belonging to the subtropical region, Guilin enjoys a mild climate with sufficient rainfall. Its yearly average temperature is 18.8'C, and the hottest month, August, has an average temperature of 28'C, while the coldest months, which are January and February are 8'C on the average. Du Fu, a very famous poet of Tang Dynasty so said of its climate: "When it is scorching hot everywhere in the Five Ridges, only Guilin has temperate weather."
The best time to visit Guilin is between April and October. During this time, the area is at its most green.
The most important thing to know about Guilin (and Yangshuo) weather is that it can get very hot, humid, and it rains a lot! The average temperature for the year is 19.3 centigrade with a July average temperature of 28.3 degrees. The average rainfall for the year is 192.6 cm per month.
Note that climbing peaks around Guilin and Yangshuo can get dangerous during or after a downpour.
