Longer bus trips leave from the Jinghong Long Distance Bus Station on Minghang Lu going to Kunming, Xiaguan (Dali), Baoshan and Ruili. The fares generally range between 150 to 200 RMB. Buses to Kunming take 11~16 hours and leave twice daily at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Buses to Ruili take 40 hours and leave daily at 9 a.m. Buses to Baoshan leave daily at noon and take 30-34 hours. The bus is relatively cheap and affords a fantastic (if slightly hair raising) experience. However, the buses are often delayed and a 14 hour trip has the potential to turn into a 24 hour hot and sweaty marathon in the summertime!
